In this case the patient had an increased protrusion and narrow upper and lower arches. Dr. Daniels used a multi phase treatment with a functional appliance, a palatal expander and upper and lower braces for optimal results.
In this case the patient had a lot of crowding in the upper teeth as well as a severely deepbite. Dr. Daniels used a bite plate and braces with elastics to correct the patient's smile.
In this case the patient had a severe underbite. Dr. Daniels used a comprehensive treatment with upper and lower braces and elastics for these excellent results.
In this case the patient had an increased protrusion, a deep bite, and severe crowding. Dr. Daniels used a first phase of treatment to decreased the protrusion, overbite, and crowding. A second phase of treatment will follow for detailing.
Orthodontics is the dental specialty that treats malocclusions (poor teeth/jaw alignment). Malocclusions can contribute to uneven wear of your teeth that can result in pain when chewing. Oftentimes, teeth are not aesthetically pleasing due to a malocclusion. Teeth can also be very difficult to keep clean and maintain. Below are some of the most common problems when it comes to teeth:
Crowding: crowding happens when teeth do not have enough room when they erupt; this can often be treated with a palatal expander and removal of teeth can be avoided.
Protrusion: with a protrusion the upper teeth extend too far forward or the lower teeth do not extend far enough forward.
Cross bite: with a cross bite the upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth; this can cause teeth stratification or misaligned jaw growth.
Underbite: with an underbite the lower teeth sit in front of the upper teeth; this either because the lower jaw extends forward or the upper jaw does not sit far enough forward.
Openbite: in an openbite proper chewing is impeded; the upper and lower teeth do not overlap.
Midlines: when midlines do not match between the upper and lower teeth this is usually due to back teeth not fitting together properly.
Deep bite: the upper teeth extend out over the lower teeth in a deep bite. Sometimes the lower teeth hit the roof of the mouth. The majority of the lower teeth are usuallly covered by the upper teeth.
